This seriously should be my life mantra. Wise, wise words. If I’m being completely honest here, I’ve compared myself to others for as long as I can remember; it’s a personal flaw I’ve been “working on” most of my life. It’s hard sometimes to see the successes of others and not think to yourself – “If I had made different decisions, would I have the same successes…..what are they doing that I haven’t done…..why does it seem that my successes never seem to compare to theirs?”

I realized something recently. I DO NOT have to do it all. I only have to do what makes me happy. I need to stop trying to do too much and get so wrapped up in life that I forget to live and appreciate what I have. Ever heard of that saying “Don’t spend so much time trying to make a living that you forget to live.”  It is so, so true.

I think we all were affected and saddened by the news of Oscar de la Renta‘s passing. It’s truly a tragedy that such an amazing talent and an even more amazing person is no longer with us. Oscar (look at me acting like I knew him and we were on a “first name basis”! ) graced not only the fashion world, but the world in general, with such beauty and art. He also was a very wise man when it came to the true meaning and impact of fashion and style.

Wednesday Wisdom: Ideals of Beauty

a beautiful soul

a beautiful soul

We’ve all heard the saying “eyes are the windows to the soul.” Well, what if they truly were? What if by peering into the eyes of another human being we truly could see the soul. What do you think we’d see? These very thoughts popped into my head when I saw the above photo on Pinterest last week.

Such a beautiful, beautiful message. Putting on a new dress, wearing a dramatic red lipstick, going to the salon, it’s how what we do on the outside makes us feel on the inside; how it soothes our soul. I truly believe that true beauty come from within.

Wednesday Wisdom: The Value of Hard Work

ww post

ww post

Words that ring very true to me right now. Sometimes I think the value of hard work and good work ethic are undervalued. In my opinion true work ethic and hard work are two of the most important and best values you can have today. No one should expect things to just happen and then complain when they don’t happen. Not happy with your current situation? Well then do something about it! Hustle! I’ll be honest, I did have to learn the hard way and learn a few “life lessons” so to speak before I realized how true the above is. I’ll never take it for granted again!

Wednesday Wisdom: Walking on Glitter

WALKING ON GLITTER

I’m sure you’ve all heard the expression “walking on clouds” or being on “cloud nine”, referring to being really grateful and happy about something that has recently happened in your life. Well, I guess you could say I’m in that ‘state of mind’ right now. However, in my case and being the girl who created the online persona of “Glam Slam” and likes all things glittery and sparkly, I’m going to say that right now I’m “walking on glitter” (cute, right? Ha, ha).

Wednesday Wisdom: Good Things Take Time

GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME

With my good news today, I almost forgot this week’s Wednesday Wisdom post! Better late than never, right?

Good things take time. Really packs a punch doesn’t it? We all have dreams and goals. But, sometimes we don’t have the patience it may take to achieve those dreams. I speak for my self personally here. They say patience is a virtue – well, unfortunately is not a virtue I’ve mastered yet. What I do realize is that you shouldn’t give up on dreams and goals just because it may take longer to achieve them than we once originally thought. Success may come later in life. So have patience friends. It’ll be worth it in the end.

Wednesday Wisdom: Struggles

WW POST

Pretty straightforward and to the point. Sometimes we have to go through struggles to come out the other side stronger, wiser and better than we were before. I can definitely attest to this personally as I’m sure many of you can. So if you’re struggling, no matter what it may be with, stay strong friends – you can do it!
