It was a great weekend friends! My Mom flew in from my hometown of Atlanta to visit me! I took her all around downtown Tulsa and showed her all the city had to offer. This particular day I took her to the Philbrook Museum for a little “art and culture”. A true believer in sequins for any occasion (evidenced here and here ), I thought my Mom coming to visit was the perfect excuse to wear a little sparkle! Although I was afraid I maybe come off at first looking like a candy striper, I’m still loving this new tee!
We now take a break from regular Friday programming for something special….
This past Saturday I had the true pleasure of spending the afternoon surrounded by beautiful shoes, jewels and wine. It was my first time attending the Wine, Women and Shoes event in Tulsa, and let me say, it won’t be the last time. Saturday’s Wine, Women and Shoes event was in conjunction with the YWCA of Tulsa, an organization that is dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women in Tulsa for over 99 years!
So, amazingly beautiful shoes, accessories and a selection fine wine for sampling from various different vineyards? It was truly lovely.
I’ve been blogging for a little over a year now. While my reasons for starting are many and varied, the main reasons that always come to mind when I take time to reflect are: creative freedom and passion. I know this may seem dramatic, but at the core, this is why I love to blog. I’ve always been a “creative” and have enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember. Being able to write about what you love and be able to do so freely in your own voice, is truely awesome. So, when I discovered the Social Media Tulsa group, it was just a match made in heaven – truly. Better yet, when I then discovered the #SMTulsa Conference, it was just the “icing” on top of the cake!
Champagne, fine chocolates, women “dressed to the nine”, make-up artists, luxury cosmetics and Marilyn performing “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend”, “I Want to be Love By You” and more. This my friends was the fabulous scene this past Thursday at the #SaksBombshell event at Saks Tulsa, in celebration of MAC’s recently released exclusive limited edition Marilyn Monroe Collection . The event was hosted by local blogger and fashion writer Nicci Atchley. The best part? In our pursuit to try and achieve the beauty of the ultimate bombshell beauty, 10% of all proceeds from our purchases of these exquisite cosmetics went to benefit the Child Abuse Network of Tulsa. So sipping on champagne, munching on fine chocolates and getting our make-up done by make-up artists truly went to support one of the most precious of causes, protecting our children. It doesn’t get any better than that! 🙂
“Bedroom eyes“, ruby red lips and pristine porcelain-like skin where name of the game. Channeling Marilyn’s legendary and trademark look, the collection consists of deep black eyeliners for that “bedroom eyes” look, highly pigmented eye shadows is gorgeous colors, rosy pink blushes and lipsticks in shades like “Charmed I’m Sure to Shop”, “Love Goddess to Shop” and “Deeply Adored to Shop” . The great thing about this collection – these colors work for any season! A very important note though my lovelies, when MAC says limited edition, they mean it! The collection is already sold out completely here in my city of Tulsa and many items are starting to or are already sold out online, so HURRY, HURRY!
I’m always so excited to see what exclusive collections MAC comes up with, and this collection mydefinitely didn’t disappoint! Now, I just have to hurry and scoop up a few more pieces from this collection before it’s completely sold out!
SPECIAL THANKS to Nicci Atchley and Amanda Viles for putting on such a wonderful event, thank you to MAC make-up artist AJ for making me feel beautiful and to Kate Davis of C.A.N. !
Outfit Details: long blazer (obsessed with THIS one) – target, top – Ann Taylor Loft (old), boyfriend jeans – old navy (similar), heels – nine west, bracelet – kohl’s, necklace – the limited (this one is also cute), clutch – thrifted, ring – the limited
Saturday I had a fabulous afternoon at Saks Fifth Avenue Tulsa! The one and only Lindsay Rogers, a.k.a. @bellebellebeau , held a beauty brunch event. It was great time! We sipped on mimosas while listening to Lindsay teach us about the latest and great in fall beauty and make-up trends. Accompanying Lindsay was Amanda Viles, a.k.a. @AChic , Marketing Director for Saks Tulsa. Amanda discussed with attendees how to accompany fall’s beauty trends with the season’s current fashion trends.
It truly was a great afternoon of beauty and fashion. What more could
a girl I ask for?

So, since I knew I was going to a place like Saks, of course an important question is what to wear?! 😉 Since we’re still basically in a transition period between seasons, I’m currently discovering and experimenting on ways to bring some of my summer pieces into fall.
So, one of my favorite summer staples, my boyfriend jeans, were my first challenge. One idea I had already was pairing my boyfriend jeans this fall with a slouchy sweater or jacket and heels; I decided to keep with that same idea. I paired my jeans with my FAVORITE pair of Nine West leopard print heels (last seen here and here), a simple black sleeveless blouse and long and hot red blazer (last seen here). To polish it off I added a great statement necklace and bracelet and a funky studded and spiked clutch.
I find it lots of fun jazzing up simple pieces and wardrobe staples with statement accessories! So many options.
What do you think of the final result? How are you bringing some of your favorite summer pieces into fall?
UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!

Hello my Lovlies!
I mentioned a few days ago that I would be attending the fabulous grand-opening event of the new Ann Taylor concepts store here in Tulsa. Well, the event was this past Saturday and it was soooo amazing! The store is so incredibly chic, beautiful, elegant and is in my opinion very “couture-inspired”.
With this new store being located in a mall, at first you might think that this is just like any other Ann Taylor store; even though you love Ann and believe it is fine, modern and high quality fashion, you’re probley thinking “it’s a chain store and they’re all the same”. Sister….boy are you wrong!
When I said a few days ago think “champagne, glamor and chandeliers” when it came to this new store, I wasn’t kidding!
Hello Tulsa fashionistas!
Major news!!! A new glamourous and “couture” inspired Ann Taylor concepts store is opening right here in Tulsa! New York inspired fashion comes to Tulsa!
Guess what? Yours truly has been invited to the event to cover it! I’ll be tweeting live from the event.
Guess what else? You’re invited too! There will be a live DJ, refreshments, sweets, raffles, and a gift with any purchase over $100.
Come join me!
FYI: Demi is wearing one of my absolute favorite shirts I’ve seen in this season’s new items so far! Love the sequins and sparkle!
This month is all about “painting the town pink”! Yes, unless you’ve been living under a rock lately, you are fully aware that this month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Everyone is “feeling the power of the pink” and is doing their part to help spread awareness and raise money to find a cure. When I say everybody, I mean everybody: celebrities, companies and of course the fashion world!
I honestly have to say that I am very touched by how the fashion world is paying it forward and doing so much in the fight for a cure. Some of our favorite designers are creating exclusive “mini collections” or special pieces for the cure this month, high-powered celebrities are saying “the force is with you” through exclusive fashion pieces and well known fashion retailers launch beautiful collections.
Some of my favorite things the fashion world is doing for the cause:
Ann Taylor Loft- BCRF Collection :
One of my favorite stores that I frequent when I’m in the need for some fab ‘casual chic’ pieces, has partnered with the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) and created an exclusive collection of limited edition T-shirts and jewelry.
T-SHIRTS: for every t-shirt purchased, $5 will go to BCRF. The t-shirts were inspired by the stories of three real women whose stories inspired the shirts and symbolizing: strength, inspiration and support.
