Note to self:  pick a day to shoot that is not ridiculously windy. Second note to self:  pick a time of day when the sun isn’t blinding you. I kinda had a problem finding some pictures to use where my eyes weren’t either closed or I was squinting. Hey, your live and you learn, right?

Anyways, here we go, my first outfit post in….how long? Too long. This week has had me in full New York Fashion Week mode. Even though I’m NOT THERE, with amazing things like Twitter, Live Stream, Style.com, WWD, and more, I sure feel like I am.  I someday plan and hope to be able to actually attend in person one year.

If I were there this year, I think this outfit would be a cute option to where out and about to shows. Although, I’d probably jazz it up a bit with a bit more bling, oversized sunnies , a great bag and maybe a different pair skinny jeans.  In encompasses three major trends this season – emerald, leopard print and tweed. I thought about adding in a few more trends, but then I thought, maybe that would be too trendy.    😉

What are some of your favorite trends that you’ve been rocking lately?

Outfit Details:  coat – target (similar), cardigan – macy’s (similar), boyfriend jeans: asos , booties – payless, gloves: target, sunglasses – steve madden, neckalce – kohl’s (also LOVE this beauty)

I decided to go “all out” with this outfit – jewel tones, sequins, houndstooth, “Michael Jackson” fingerless zebra print gloves, ripped jeans, purple sunglasses and booties. Not too much, right? What can I say;  I like experimenting. I recently have been doing a lot of “experimenting” fashion-wise lately. More to the point, I’ve been trying to mix and match different pieces and create different combinations in my current wardrobe I otherwise never would have of.

I’m trying to do what I can to cut back on shopping, as I’ve been doing a bit too much of that lately.  Funny how many different outfits you can come up with using what you already have! Hey, maybe this living on a budget and more within my means thing won’t be so bad, right?!

Have you “shopped” your closet lately? What different and unexpected combos have you come up with?

Outfit Details:  top – lane bryant, skinny jeans – old navy, shoes – asos, necklace – kohl’s, ring – gift from father, bracelets & watch – forever 21

Welcome to my first outfit post of 2013! I just realized that it’s been almost a month since my last outfit post! Eeeek! Regarding the name of this particular post, I named it “Ice Princess” for two reasons – first, it was COOOLD while shooting and I almost froze into an ice cube and secondly, I’m wearing my favorite piece of “ice”, this awesome shiny rhinestone necklace from Kohl’s.  I seriously cannot seem to take it off!

This outfit definitely includes two of my favorite things: polka dots and bling! I love the accent of blue polka dots in this top.  I decided to keep the rest of the outfit fairly simple, aside from the great accents of bling with this necklace and my favorite sapphire and diamond ring that my dear father gave me for Christmas a few years ago.

Well, so far we’re 10 days into the new year, and I have to say, it hasn’t been too bad so far. I am excited for this year and think great things will be happening!   🙂

Outfit Details: blazer – Elle (via Khol’s ) , sequined top – old navy , necklace – kohl’s (similar) , jeans – old navy, heels – DSW , aviator sunnies – asos (similar)

This outfit is yet another example of two pieces I never thought would work together – sequins and tweed. Just like plaid, I never thought tweed would be something I’d wear or anything that would work for me. Honestly, I always saw tweed, up until recently, as something that women much older than I would wear…like my grandmother!

But, alas, just like I found that plaid isn’t just for lumberjacks, tweed is not just for my grandmother. When styled creatively, it can be oh so chic! After finding tons of inspiration HERE, I braved it and went out and bought my very first tweed blazer. The really cool thing about this particular blazer is that is a “distressed” tweed! So, like my favorite pair of ripped boyfriend jeans, it does the job, but will a  little bit of edge!

What do you think? Would you wear tweed this season?
