Fabulous Fridays: Winter Brights

Fabulous Fridays: Winter Brights

(from top – L to R):  Old Navy classic wool blend coat , Vince Camuto Double Breasted Raincoat , Coach classic short trench ,  J. Crew tall majesty peacoat , J. Crew classic peacoat (on sale!) , Acne ‘suzane’ coat (more affordable option HERE – on sale!)

As a lover of color, I am a firm believer that just because it’s winter, doesn’t mean you have to spend the entire season wearing dark, dreary and draby colors. While I of course like the the seasonal fall colors like mustard yellow, oxblood (a.k.a. burgundy) and chocolate brown, I really love to brighten things up! I am loving some of the brightly colored wool coats and trench coats I’ve seen popping up lately in stores. Whether it be trench coats, wool coats or rain coats, our coming winter season is shaping up to be a colorful one!

Do you like wearing bright colors during winter?

With the holiday season in full swing, it’s time to start thinking about those holiday parties ladies! The finishing touch to an holiday party ensemble is a little sparkle.

Fabulous Fridays: Opposites Attract!

Opposites Attract!

 SHOP THE TREND:

Opposites attract. This is true both in romance my friends and in fashion! Lately we’ve been seeing all kinds of unlikely “mixing and matching” going on. Unusual pairings that you would never normally think would work together  but they do! Print mixing has been a popular favorite recently. However what I’ve loved is truly unlikely pairings being put together and working fabulously.

Above is one of my favorite trends – camo. Being a girl who is attracted to anything sparkly or with sequins like a bug is to a bug lamp, of course I decided to mix in a bit of sparkle with my camo! My advice in making something like this work is to ground the two extremes with a neutral-colored piece, like a pair of pumps of a great bag or clutch and keep your accessories in the same color family as one of the pieces you are wearing. Here I stuck with the pink of the top.

When it comes to thinking of how to mix camo with some other pieces in your wardrobe, just think about this – camo, or the different colors of light and dark green, actually could be considered a neutral. As we all know, neutrals are so easy to pair great color with!

So, what you do think? Would you dare to mix such extreme opposites together?

Fabulous Fridays: Let’s Go Riding!

Let's Go Riding!

G by Guess platform boots / Leather boots / Deerskin boots / Buckle boots / Buckle boots / Tory Burch black leather boots / Steve Madden kitten heels

In case you haven’t noticed, riding boots have made an appearance in a big way so far this season. No, they are not only for equestrians! I’ll admit, when this trend first started becoming popular, I wasn’t on board. Naturally, I at first thought I’d look like I truly was about to go riding and would get weird glances from people in public. However, after seeing the great and varied options there are and getting some great style inspiration here and here , I’m on board! I look forward to finding different ways to style

I found a few great options that I’ve shown you above. Some are more investment pieces, but there are some great options from retailers like Target too! I know that investing almost $200 or more seems a little ridiculous; I myself would even have to save up for a pair. However,  boots like these can be worn for many many more seasons to come and can easily pair seamlessly when many different pieces in your wardrobe. They can be worn over a pair of skinny jeans for a more casual look, or , even could be paired with a pencil skirt for a more formal look!

What do you think of this trend? Will you go “riding” this season?

Fabulous Fridays: Quirky and Fun

Quirky

Like this? See what else I’ve been up to on Polyvore HERE !
SHOP THE TREND:
Lately we’ve been seeing a fun and quirky trend start to come about! Graphic print tees with fun shapes and symbols and sweaters and sweat shirts with quirky sayings embellishing them.  These pieces can easily be paired with a pair of distressed boyfriend jeans and heels and an easy fun look. However, what I’ve really loved seeing lately is seeing the casual pieces being paired with fancy pencil skirts, chunky rhinestone necklaces and heels.
“Causal and fun meets glam”  you could say. I’m not sure what or who started this trend, but it’s catching on like wild fire and I absolutely LOVE it!One of my favorite ways to style is to bring unexpected elements together; taking contrast and “make it work” as the almighty Tim Gunn would say!  😉   There are many designers and brands who have great options to help you rock this trend, but so far my two best sources for a dose of quirky fun are Zoe Karssen and ASOS. I am officially obsessed  and am seriously going to stock up!
What do you think of this trend? How would you style it?

Cute fox sweaters, owl face t-shirts, quirky cat face statement rings, etc. – I love it all. What’s so fun about this trend is the many different ways you can style it. Fabulous Fridays: NYFW Inspired

Fabulous Fridays: NYFW Inspired

Shop the Look:  top – Dorothy Perkins, jeans – Paige Denim, shoes – J Crew, sunnies – Elizabeth and James, necklace – Bauble Bar, clutch – Miu Miu (equally chic and more affordable version HERE )

It’s started! New York Fashion Week is upon us once again and the madness has ensued! One of the most important things a fashion blogger will do is deciding on looks to wear for NYFW when attending shows, presentations, parties, meetings, etc. NYFW brings out the daring and bold; it’s the time where everyone seems to take fashion risks they otherwise wouldn’t take on a normal basis. It’s so fun!

Well, unfortunately I’m not attending NYFW this year (maybe next year – fingers crossed), but I still find myself thinking what I might wear if I were there.  This is what I came up with (keep in mind, this is just ONE look – I could go on and on creating NYFW looks! 😉  ) .  What do you think?

What would you wear to NYFW? Would you be a fashion risk-taker?
