What can I say – Alexander Wang is a genius…pure genius. It’s not like I’m telling you something you didn’t already know. His Fall 2013 RTW collection was dramatic, edgy, chic and futuristic. These are elements that are signature to many of his collections, and what makes his so, so good!
Anyway, my favorite look this week was Maggie’s red leather jacket (similar here and here) and red knit top (cute option here) combo. Am I mistaken, or is that a vintage Chanel bag I see on her shoulder? While I’m not sure about the bag, I am sure that her look above is great! How easily could you see yourself sporting this look paired with a cute pair of boyfriend jeans and heels or booties for a great weekend look? I’m still loving the brilliant mix of classic 80’s vintage style with modern trendy pieces.
Well friends, unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past few weeks, then you know that Carrie Bradshaw is back! Well, the teenage Carrie Bradshaw. On 01/14/13, The Carrie Diaries, prequel to Sex in the City and based on the books by SATC author Candice Bushnell, premiered on The CW.
We all had expectations, some of us reservations of how good this could and would actually be. Having read both books in the series, I was skeptical on how true to the books they would stay and how this might affect our view of our beloved and iconic Carrie of SATC. Verdict is in: I love it! I love it so much so, that I’ve been inspired to do my own weekly series of each week – a review of my favorite look for each week’s episode.
Aside from shoes, there are few things that I love as much as some good bling! Great accessories can make such a great statement and can dress up even the simplest of outfits. Below are a few of my favorite “bling” examples from some of my outfit posts. So, go on my friends – bling on!
Of course you know a girl can’t have enough bling, right? I’ve been browsing around online and came across this, this and this! I think I have a “bling problem.”
I am a firm believer that it is never too early in the winter season to start thinking of fabulous spring fashion. Case in point, new upcoming spring collections are shown many, many months ahead of the actual chronological occurrence of the season itself at fashion week, so I think this justifies my spring cravings in January. Hey, that’s my story and I’m sticking to it! 😉
As I scoured the internet looking for the latest information on upcoming spring fashion, I happened to stumble upon two Resort collections that caught my eye. Now, spring collections aside, Resort Collections are even better! Two of my favorite designers and inspirations: Tory Burch and Rebecca Minkoff. Now, not only am I craving spring fashion, but ready to sail onto into summer for a tropical getaway!
I have always loved TORY BURCH. I admire her not just because of the strong, intelligent and creative genius that she is or my love for that famous brand emblem that embellishes her accessories, but for the bright, clean and chic aesthetic that always is epitomized in her collections. The bright sunny colors, the patterns, the great accessories? Tell, what about her above collection doesn’t instantly speak to you and make you ready to take off to a tropical getaway?
Ever since I saw my first Mini Mac, REBECCA MINKOFF stole my heart. Her collections always have such interesting and great inspirations behind them each season and somehow I’m always instantly put in a better mood after viewing them. The sneak peak that we’re shown in the video above for her upcoming 2013 Resort & Cruise Collection has me longing for poolside afternoons, warm beaches and cute sandals – and of course one of her fabulous bags!
It’s my favorite time of year (well one of my favorite times of year – at least fashion-wise) – awards season! What is it about award show red carpets that makes me so silly and giddy? I LOVE seeing what the stars will be wearing. Sometimes I feel like a member of E’s “Fashion Police” or something! Well, I might not be as “critical” as Joan Rivers, but I definitely have quite an opinion sometimes when it comes to red carpet fashion.
The trends I saw from this year’s Golden Globes red carpet were a lot of red, nudes and whites. I was expecting much more bright color and was surprised we didn’t see more. Despite this though, there were a few looks that stood out to me, and that I really loved, which I have presented to you above. My best dressed this year BY FAR was Jessica Alba. She was STUNNING in her dusty peach Oscar de la Renta gown! I usually don’t like “mermaid” style dresses, but I really liked this one! I also loved the long train of the dress, her “Old Hollywood” style hair and of course the bling!
Two of my “best dressed” choices, Ann Hathaway and Lucy Liu, I can tell you not everyone will agree with. A lot of people were saying that Ann’s dress was too plain and simple and that she needed more color. I couldn’t disagree with this more! I loved the simplicity of her dress and it’s sparkle. Now, on to Lucy Liu. Lucy definitely made a statement and took a risk in her huge “princess-like” floral Carolina Herrera dress. This, however, is why I love it so much. Fashion sometimes is all about taking a risk and trying something different. I loved the florals and color! The idea of florals in the heart of winter I think is a lovely idea!
3.1 Phillip Lim Peggy Metallic Ankle Booties. Ooooh these booties! I first heard about them when one of my favorite bloggers, Corals + Cognacs , tweeted about her recent purchase of these babies. I then started seeing them popping up in outfit posts on some of my favorite blogs and let me tell you – it was “love at first sigh”! Them make such a statement and are so chic. At first glance they may seem like a little too much, but when paired with an otherwise simple or neutral pieces, they are AWESOME!
I’ll be honest, they would be quite the investment for me, but one that would be well worth it, as they are high quality shoes and some that I would wear over and over again. I’m currently keeping an “eagle’s eye” on them and waiting to see if they go on sale! I sincerely hope I can obtain myself a pair, as I can imagine so many fabulous outfit posts coming with these babies been the star! 😉
What do you think of these statement making shoes?
