I’ve told you recently about my “summer uniform“, but there is something else that comes annually each year around summer time that we should talk about. It’s something that many women dread like the plague (I know I definitely do), but is yet an essential part of summer. What is it? Swim suit shopping. Aside from the obvious self-esteem issues it can bring, it also brings many a choices – the bikini, one piece, string bikini, retro style and more. Well friends there is yet another choice that seems to have become quite popular as of late – the monokini. A one piece/ two piece hybrid, it makes quite the statement and was in abundance at the recent Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim event in Miami.
If you know me then you know how much of a dream it is to be able to attend Fashion Week someday, however, I may want to attend Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim even more! Just picture all that is Fashion Week in all it’s fabulousness and add in sun, surf and chic Miami beach! It was hard not to be glued to my Twitter account the past few days to catch the coverage and live vicariously through a few of my favorite fashion bloggers! Nanette Lepore’s chic bright colors and cover ups, Maria Hoffman’s tribal inspired pieces, the gorgeous smoky eye makeup the models wore….it was awesome (at least from what I saw from my computer 😉 ).
The Kate Hudson for Ann Taylor collection is here lovelies, and let me just say – it is a beautiful, beautiful “white out”. Ann Taylor stores across the country had special “White Party” events, celebrating the launch of the collection. I was lucky enough to attend just such an event at my local store here in Tulsa.
Kelly Rowland in Rami Al Ali Couture //Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad//Selena Gomez in Atelier Versace
(I planned on posting this on Monday, but due to the horrible tragedy and devastation left in the wake of the tornado in Moore, OK, it didn’t seem appropriate or the right time to take any attention away from this tragic time.)
It was a “blue carpet” as apposed to the regular “red carpet” at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. As with any awards show, one of my favorite parts of course is the fashion! The above are my top three best dressed favorites! Kelly Rowland and J-Lo shimmered and brought some mega-watt glam, while Selena Gomez was chic in a modern all white dress with a sexy slit and just a touch of neon color.
Among the great moments the BBMA blue carpet brought, there were certain moments that were…um…not so great. Like this from Jennifer Morrison, THIS from Kesha (not that I’m surprised), and….um…THIS from Maddona??!! Hey, we’ve got to deal with the crazy and the bad to get to the good, right? 😉
outfit details: top – the limited, capri’s – lane bryant, heels – nine west, sunglasses – steve madden, necklace 1 & 2 – the limited, bracelets – forever 21, ring – express, clutch – express
Decided to change things up a bit with this outfit post! Presenting me in “live action“! Haha! Just yet another example of me going to my “happy place” fashion-wise in some more great bright color. Coral is a very coveted color so far this spring season in both fashion and makeup. Fine with me! Coral is a color I’ve always loved and will definitely continue to love throughout this spring and coming summer season!
Remember when I told you about Bonfaire? The fabulous new company who gives you access to next season’s fashion today and gives you your own exclusive “online trunk show”? Now remember hard – I did tell you I’d have a treat for you, right?
This is my spring wish. More accurately it is my dream spring list. Sometimes it’s fun to imagine what fabulousness you could bring to your closet if you had no budget. “Spring fashion dreaming!” While most of these items are out of my current price range, the idea of the items themselves are very accurate as to what I’ll be wearing this spring. When it comes to the warmer months out of the year I tend to dress a little more relaxed.
Sadly, the first “official” day of spring so here in Tulsa was quite chilly and felt nothing like spring. 🙁 It is my sincerest hope that in the coming week or two things start to warm up so I can start wearing some of my gorgeous spring fashion inspirations like the above.
I’m going to be honest, it’s been a while since I actually went out and truly celebrated St. Patrick’s Day. This is something I changed this year (if you follow me on Instagram, you already know this 😉 ). Friends – I had a lot of fun!
This past Saturday I had the true pleasure of spending the afternoon surrounded by beautiful shoes, jewels and wine. It was my first time attending the Wine, Women and Shoes event in Tulsa, and let me say, it won’t be the last time. Saturday’s Wine, Women and Shoes event was in conjunction with the YWCA of Tulsa, an organization that is dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women in Tulsa for over 99 years!
So, amazingly beautiful shoes, accessories and a selection fine wine for sampling from various different vineyards? It was truly lovely.
Prabal Gurung can do NO WRONG. The man is brilliant. Every runway show of his I’ve watched (online only, not live in person – yet) has been incredibly dramatic – the show itself and the clothes. I expected no less when it came to his RTW Fall 2013 collection, and I was right. Serious AWESOMENESS!
Black and Gold skater dresses, sexy LDB with a twist, dramatic stripes. This was the scene and more at the Jill Sander show. I wish I were more of a dress person, because she had such awesome options in her RTW Fall 2013 collection – AWESOME options.
