We now take a break from regular Friday programming for something special….
This past Saturday I had the true pleasure of spending the afternoon surrounded by beautiful shoes, jewels and wine. It was my first time attending the Wine, Women and Shoes event in Tulsa, and let me say, it won’t be the last time. Saturday’s Wine, Women and Shoes event was in conjunction with the YWCA of Tulsa, an organization that is dedicated to eliminating racism and empowering women in Tulsa for over 99 years!
So, amazingly beautiful shoes, accessories and a selection fine wine for sampling from various different vineyards? It was truly lovely.
I’ve been blogging for a little over a year now. While my reasons for starting are many and varied, the main reasons that always come to mind when I take time to reflect are: creative freedom and passion. I know this may seem dramatic, but at the core, this is why I love to blog. I’ve always been a “creative” and have enjoyed writing for as long as I can remember. Being able to write about what you love and be able to do so freely in your own voice, is truely awesome. So, when I discovered the Social Media Tulsa group, it was just a match made in heaven – truly. Better yet, when I then discovered the #SMTulsa Conference, it was just the “icing” on top of the cake!
It’s that time again. Thanksgiving is over. We survived Black Friday. What’s left before Christmas? HELLLLO! Cyber Monday! Even though I spent my Black Friday online shopping, I still plan on taking full advantage of Cyber Monday deals and steals. As we are all aware, this month is breast cancer awareness month. Pink is the IT color (and I’m totally fine with that 😉 )! Contrary to popular belief of some, the fashion world is and has been making HUGE strides in the support of breast cancer research and spreading awareness. Designers create exclusive limited addition pieces, brands launch awareness campaigns and more. It is truly touching to me that an industry that many criticize as being so superficial can do so much for such an important cause and truly shows it’s “heart”!
Champagne, fine chocolates, women “dressed to the nine”, make-up artists, luxury cosmetics and Marilyn performing “Diamonds are a Girl’s Best Friend”, “I Want to be Love By You” and more. This my friends was the fabulous scene this past Thursday at the #SaksBombshell event at Saks Tulsa, in celebration of MAC’s recently released exclusive limited edition Marilyn Monroe Collection . The event was hosted by local blogger and fashion writer Nicci Atchley. The best part? In our pursuit to try and achieve the beauty of the ultimate bombshell beauty, 10% of all proceeds from our purchases of these exquisite cosmetics went to benefit the Child Abuse Network of Tulsa. So sipping on champagne, munching on fine chocolates and getting our make-up done by make-up artists truly went to support one of the most precious of causes, protecting our children. It doesn’t get any better than that! 🙂
“Bedroom eyes“, ruby red lips and pristine porcelain-like skin where name of the game. Channeling Marilyn’s legendary and trademark look, the collection consists of deep black eyeliners for that “bedroom eyes” look, highly pigmented eye shadows is gorgeous colors, rosy pink blushes and lipsticks in shades like “Charmed I’m Sure to Shop”, “Love Goddess to Shop” and “Deeply Adored to Shop” . The great thing about this collection – these colors work for any season! A very important note though my lovelies, when MAC says limited edition, they mean it! The collection is already sold out completely here in my city of Tulsa and many items are starting to or are already sold out online, so HURRY, HURRY!
I’m always so excited to see what exclusive collections MAC comes up with, and this collection mydefinitely didn’t disappoint! Now, I just have to hurry and scoop up a few more pieces from this collection before it’s completely sold out!
SPECIAL THANKS to Nicci Atchley and Amanda Viles for putting on such a wonderful event, thank you to MAC make-up artist AJ for making me feel beautiful and to Kate Davis of C.A.N. !
In case you didn’t know, I am and always will be a HUGE animal lover! I have been lucky enough to have grown up having some of the most special pets in my childhood and memories that will last forever. I truly, truly believe that animals are one of God’s most precious gifts. They enrich our lives, cuddle with us when we are feeling down in the dumps, are eagerly waiting my the door when we get home everyday and love unconditionally. I couldn’t imagine my life not having had the wonderful pets I did growing up, and especially couldn’t imagine my life without my two girls (my cats), Lizzy and Callie. Both of my girls are rescues ( you can learn more about their stories HERE ), and it breaks my heart to think what their fates would have been had I not been able to adopt them.
NOTE: If you follow me on Instagram, then you’ve “met” them already. 😉
I especially can’t stand to think of pets out there not being loved and cared for the way that they deserve. So, when I came across a post on one of my favorite blogger’s site, the fabulous and one-and-only Profresh Style , regarding the Rescue Paw Foundation , it was something I had to share with you all! The Rescue Paw Foundation is a charity that fights to raise awareness and funding for No Kill Animal Shelters throughout the country. Here’s a startling and horrible fact – did you know that nearly 9-11 million animals die in animal shelters each year?
During Fashion Week Socialyte held a gala in benefit of the foundation and to help raise awareness. Now for the best part. For the next two days, Threadflip will be holding an online charity shopping event in benefit of the cause and the foundation. Go now and check it out loves – some of your favorite bloggers have donated several items that you can shop now!
So, if you are an animal lover like me and cherish your pet, then go shop for one of the most precious causes ever! Help the Rescue Paw Foundation keep animals healthy, alive and happy! 🙂
UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!

I found the fabulous shoe collection at Miss Jackson’s!
Cuteness alert! When I saw her in her little leopard print outfit, I had to snap a pic (hope her owner didn’t think I was a freak!). The cutest part? Her name is Zoe; as in Rachel Zoe! Cuuuuute! 😉
FNO Tulsa was a blast! It is beyond awesome that Tulsa is able to participate in such an amazing event! FNO is now a world-wide event, and the fact that so many cities around the world are celebrating on the same night every year, is just beyond amazing to me!
The event kicked off with a fabulous luncheon at the beautiful and historic Mayo Hotel where attendees enjoyed a fantastic fashion show, a live Skype conversation with designer Liz Lange and a style panel discussion of upcoming fall trends. The fun continued later in the evening. I loved seeing all of the fashionable people out and about (YES people….there are some incredibly chic and fashionable people in Tulsa) enjoying the city, supporting local boutiques and stores. Of course sipping on bubbly, meeting some of my readers and enjoying all the fashion wasn’t bad either! 😉
A special congratulations and thanks to the awesome FNO Tulsa team for a job well done! I’m already looking forward to next year’s event!
UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!
