My girls, my girls! What can I say? They are my babies, my “children” and two of the loves of my life. I know this sounds slightly obsessive (hello crazy cat lady), but it’s the truth. Yes, yes, I realize this is a fashion blog, but I just wanted to share with you guys two precious and greatly important parts of my life.
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram, then you couldn’t help but not notice the multitude of pics I’ve tweeted of them; they’re just so darn cute!
I couldn’t imagine my life without theSE two little cats. Studies have shown (and proven) that having pets enriches your life. They help you deal with stress and sadness, ……
So, let me introduce you. Callie is the Calico ( I know, such a creative name, right?) is 8yrs. old. I adopted Callie from a college friend; it was quite the dramatic story of how Callie was found and adopted. The night Callie was found, my friend and her boyfriend were driving home from a night out in downtown Atlanta on a rainy night. While they were stopped at a stoplight, my friend happened to look out the window and sitting on the sidewalk, shivering in the rain, was little Callie. Only a few weeks old, she was hungry, cold and scared; she was a little fluff ball with a sweet little face. Incredibly touched by her, my friend jumped out of the car, scooped her up and brought her home.
Once she was nursed back to health, my friend realized that with two other cats and a large dog already living in her apartment, that she would not be able to keep Callie. It was by complete coincidence that she told me about Callie. We were talking before class one day and somehow started talking about animals. When she showed me a picture of Callie, I was immediately taken by her. I don’t know if it was her sweet little face, cute little pink nose or her beautiful multi-tonal (can cats have “multi-tonal hair???) fur, but I was hooked!
The night I was on my way to my friend’s apartment to meet little Miss Callie for the first time, I actually got in a car wreck! I was fine, of course, but instead of being upset about the wreck itself and my car being totaled, I actually was more upset that I wouldn’t be able to meet my little Callie for the first time! Yes, I know, I’m a crazy woman!
The story of child #2, Lizzy, is not quite as dramatic, but still equally as touching. Lizzy also was a rescue adoption. Lizzy was part of a litter of kittens that had been abandoned. My coworker found Lizzy and her siblings abandoned out in a field not far from her house. Being quite the animal lover and cat lover herself, she brought all the kittens home with the intention of nursing the kittens back to health and finding good adoptive homes for them. The rest of the story is fate. Similarly like Callie, once I saw her picture, I knew Lizzy was meant to be with me!
She originally was named “Pepper” due to having a small patch of gray fur on her back. While I thought this of course was a cute name, it just didn’t seem to fit her. Since I was a child I had always wanted to name one of my pets Elizabeth (don’t ask me why) but had never had the chance to. So, when I adopted Lizzy, this was my chance. But for short, I dubbed her Lizzy.
So, there ya go! The stories of how my girls came to be with me! Trust me, I could go on and on about these two little baby girls, but I ‘ll spare you! As I mentioned above, I couldn’t imagine my life without these two little cats and am thankful everyday for having them in my life.
Do you have a special animal(s) in your life?
UNTIL NEXT TIME!!!
