Paris Fashion Week Round-Up

” Oh, malheur à moi”! Paris Fashion Week ended a few days ago and now since that concludes all of this year’s fashion weeks on our “virtual European fashion excursion”, I think I’m going through withdrawal! 🙁   As expected, just like New York, London and Milan, Paris was glamorous, chic and amazing! Hey, what else would you expect from “the city of lights” and one of the undisputed fashion capitals of the world?!

This year’s Paris runways brought lots of chic white (the color of the season it seemed), beautiful iridescent and shimmery fabrics, an ode to 40’s and 60’s glamour, awesome patterns, rich jewel tones and light and delicate pastels, gorgeous gowns and classic french elegance.

Below are my favorite collections from Paris this year:

CHANEL: What else did you expect? Nothing screams Paris fashion more than the legendary fashion house of Channel. I must say, Karl Lagerfield outdid himself this year; Coco Channel herself would be proud. The collection consisted of lots of chic white, shimmery iridescent fabrics, colorful and delicate prints, classic black mixed in, new takes on classic Channel jackets and pearls, pearls, pearls (you’ll see what I mean). To top it off, it was all done on the backdrop of an extravagant, beautiful and ethereal “under the sea” themed set and half-way through the show, music performed live by Florence of Florence and the Machine herself! Magnifique!

ALEXANDER McQUEEN:  Sarah Burton….bravo! Burton presented a dramatic, sexy, feminine and exciting collection. As from what I’ve always seen since I started following McQueen, no collection is without it’s great dramatic and theatrical elements! Love it! I enjoyed seeing the great prints, gentle colors, sexy leather, INCREDIBLE dresses and of course the dramatic and theatrical pieces; especially those awesome masks!

CHRISTIAN DIOR: Another legendary French fashion house that never disappoints! Even though it might still be in question who will take over as Creative Director, the classic chic and elegance that has always been Dior was not. Elegant dresses with a 60’s flair, classic suits, bright pops of vibrant red, elegant black and glamorous dresses.

STELLA McCARTNEY: I found out recently when reading a review of her show in WWD , that Stella McCartney is the official designer for the British teams competing in  the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games in London; very cool! This seemed to be partly one of the themes of this year’s collection. All pieces were beautiful and chic, but were very “relax” and more casual than some of the other collections presented at Paris Fashion Week this year.

A cool color palette of crisp whites, rich blues, a small pop of light green and classic black. The collection consisted of great form-fitting dresses, pant suits and menswear inspired pieces with an elegant touch of feminine flair.

JEAN-PAUL GAULTIER:  The man is AMAZINGLY talented and produced a knock-out collection this year that definitely grabbed my attention. 40’s glamour with a rock alternative edge describes this collection to me. Beautifully tailored suits, dresses, jersey material and french elegance with “a twist”.

P.S.- pay close attention towards the beginning of the the show and you’ll see Rachel Zoe! 🙂

MIU MIU: OK, I’m gonna keep this one simple. See below why I LUV Miu Miu and everything they do!

Jusqu’à la prochaine fois!!!
